Castle Nuts – approx to DIN 935
These castle or slotted nuts are primarily used where bolted connections must be secured with a cotter pin to reliably prevent loosening due to vibration or alternating loads.

The characteristic slots at the top allow the use of a cotter pin or safety wire through a matching hole in the bolt. This provides a mechanical lock that keeps the nut firmly in place even under heavy vibration.
